The Best Restaurants in Prince Edward County Right Now (2026 Guide)

June 1, 2026 Photo: Julien Sarazin / Unsplash

My wife Janna and I have a mission. And it starts right here at home. In Prince Edward County.

Life has a way of keeping you busy. Kids. Homeschooling. Jiu jitsu classes four to five evenings a week. CrossFit three times a week. Running a short-term rental full time. Maintaining a 6 acre property. Oh, and selling real estate somewhere in between all of that. Somewhere along the way, a proper night out with my wife quietly fell to the bottom of the list, and neither of us noticed. Our cups have been filled with the richness of home and our children. Priorities shifted from going out to staying in and we're content with that during this stage of life.

Part of that, honestly, is all Janna's fault. She's an exceptional cook, and the meals she puts on the table at home on a regular basis have set a bar that's genuinely hard to beat. When dinner at home is that good, the motivation to go out can quietly fade.

That said, at some point life will start to change, the kids will be able to be home on their own and our ability to easily explore dining out will return. And when we do, we will be thrilled to explore the incredible food scene that has quietly, remarkably, blossomed right here in Prince Edward County.

We've been to some of these places. A few of them have already left a mark on us, the kind of dinner you talk about on the drive home and then again the next morning. But there are many more on this list that we haven't gotten to yet. And that, honestly, is what excites us most.

Because what's happening in PEC's dining scene right now is not what it was five years ago. It's not even what it was last year. Michelin-recognized chefs are opening full sit-down restaurants on Picton's main strip. Farm-forward kitchens are building menus around what's growing twenty minutes away. And the overall calibre of food being served in this County is something that would genuinely surprise most people who haven't been recently.

This is our guide, and in a sense, our itinerary. The places we've loved. The places we're going one day. And an open invitation for you to do the same.

A note on timing: this list reflects the best places to dine in Prince Edward County as of June 2026. The food scene here moves fast, new spots will earn their place, and others will inevitably come and go. We'll keep this updated as the landscape continues to evolve.

The Scene

Why Prince Edward County Has Become a Food Destination

If you've been to the County even a few times over the past decade, you've watched this transformation happen in real time. What started as a wine-country weekend destination has grown into something much more layered. Chefs who used to work in Toronto's best kitchens have moved here permanently. Local farmers are supplying some of the most thoughtfully sourced menus in Ontario. And the restaurant scene has matured to the point where you can eat exceptionally well any night of the week.

The restaurants below represent the best of what's here right now, from landmark spots that have been earning their reputation for years, to brand-new openings that are already turning heads nationally.

Fine Dining

The Best Fine Dining Restaurants in Prince Edward County

01 · Picton

Bocado

252 Picton Main Street

If there's one restaurant that's defining fine dining in the County right now, it's Bocado.

Led by Chef Stuart Cameron, Bocado is a Spanish-inspired tapas restaurant that has quietly become one of the most celebrated dining rooms in all of Ontario. With a 4.8-star rating from over 1,800 OpenTable diners, the numbers back up what locals already know: this place is exceptional.

The menu is seasonal and locally driven, rotating around what's best from PEC's farms and producers. Expect dishes like seafood paella, wagyu flank steak, bacon-wrapped dates, zucchini flowers, and a cheese board that alone is worth the trip, think black garlic manchego, valdeon, and murcia al vino. The wine and cocktail list is equally thoughtful.

You can book à la carte or go with the set menu format, which I'd recommend for a first visit, it lets the kitchen take you through the full experience.

Hours: Mon,Thu 5,8:30pm  |  Fri 5,9:30pm  |  Sat 4:30,9:30pm  |  Sun 4:30,8:30pm

Reservations: Required, book through OpenTable or Tock

02 · Picton  ·  Opened April 2026

Rosetta

279 Picton Main Street

This is the newest, and arguably most exciting, opening in the County in years.

Chef Grant van Gameren is a Michelin-recognized name out of Toronto, and after moving his family to PEC in 2020 and spending a few years running his beloved burger spot Harry's Charbroiled, he's finally opened his first full sit-down restaurant here: Rosetta.

It's an Italian-inspired steakhouse, but that description undersells it. Van Gameren describes the vibe as somewhere between a trattoria, a New Orleans café, and a cocktail speakeasy, and having followed his work for years, I believe it. He's brought in serious collaborators in Luke Haines (Bar Raval) and Jesse Fader (Bar Fancy), which tells you a lot about the ambition here.

The menu features cooked and raw seafood, housemade pasta, steak, and Italian-American classics like veal parm. Toronto's food media has been watching this one closely. Frankly, so have I.

Reservations: Highly recommended, this one is already generating significant buzz

03 · Bloomfield

Flame + Smith

A converted cheese factory in the heart of Bloomfield doesn't sound like a fine dining destination, until you've been.

Flame + Smith built their entire concept around the woodfire hearth. Everything on the menu comes back to it. The result is food that's both rustic and refined, with sustainably sourced ingredients and an ever-evolving menu that centres on what the fire can do.

The setting is stunning, exposed brick, warm light, the kind of atmosphere that makes a dinner feel like an occasion. Their steaks are the headliner, but don't sleep on the other wood-fired dishes. The depth of flavour you get from that cooking method is genuinely different.

A word of warning: this isn't cheap. But for a special dinner, it earns it.

Reservations: Strongly recommended, especially on weekends

04 · Picton

The Miller House

Set inside a beautifully restored 1800s mansion in Picton's historic district, The Miller House offers something the newer spots can't quite replicate: a sense of place and history built into every corner of the room.

The menu leans into PEC's local ingredients, seasonal, thoughtful, executed well, and the wine list is one of the stronger ones in the County. This is the kind of restaurant you take someone to when the occasion calls for something genuinely memorable. The dining room alone does half the work.

If Bocado is the County's most exciting dinner and Rosetta is the most buzzworthy, The Miller House might be its most quietly perfect one.

05 · Waupoos

Waupoos Restaurant

If you've never made the drive out to the east end specifically to eat at Waupoos, put it on your list.

Consistently celebrated as one of the finest dining experiences in Prince Edward County, Waupoos earns that reputation through a combination of exceptional food and a setting that takes full advantage of being out in the County. It's a bit of a journey from Picton, but that's part of the appeal, the drive east through the County's back roads is worth doing on its own.

This is one of those places where everything comes together: the food, the service, the atmosphere, the view. It doesn't need hype because the experience speaks for itself.

06 · Picton Harbour

Foundry

Not every great meal needs to be a formal occasion, and Foundry understands that better than anyone.

With harbour views, elevated pub classics, and live music most weeks, Foundry hits a tone that's genuinely hard to achieve: food that's better than it needs to be, in a room that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. The cocktail and drink menu is carefully put together, and the vibe shifts comfortably from a weekday dinner to a livelier weekend night.

It's not white-tablecloth fine dining. But for a great evening out with good food and good energy, it belongs on this list.

New & Noteworthy

New Restaurants in Prince Edward County Worth Knowing About

07 · Picton  ·  Reopened April 2026

Bantam

165 Picton Main Street

Bantam has found its forever home.

After years operating out of a location in Hillier, Bantam officially moved into 165 Main Street in Picton in April 2026, and the relocation feels permanent in all the right ways. This is one of the most seriously local restaurants in the County, FeastON certified with a genuine commitment to Ontario produce, local winemakers, and local brewers.

The format is lunch and early afternoon, open Wednesday through Sunday, 11,5, no reservations needed. It's more relaxed than some of the other spots on this list, but the food is quietly excellent. Farm-forward, thoughtful, ingredient-driven. If you're in Picton midday, this is where you should be eating.

Hours: Wed,Sun, 11am,5pm  |  Reservations: Not required

08 · Picton  ·  OpenTable Diner's Choice 2025

Vic Social

166 Picton Main Street

Vic Social is a different kind of night out, and that's exactly the point.

Named OpenTable's Diner's Choice for 2025, this is PEC's newest social hot spot: an upscale diner with a fun 80s/90s theme, a patio scene during the day, and a lounge with a DJ and dance floor on weekend evenings. It's playful, it's energetic, and the food holds its own.

Signature dishes include the Corn Flake Crusted French Toast, a Lobster Roll, Triple Pickle Pickerel, and some creative burger builds that are better than they have any right to be. If you're looking for a night that has food, drinks, music, and a genuine atmosphere all in one place, Vic Social is the answer.

09 · Milford  ·  Reopened December 2025

The Milford

Longtime County residents will remember the Milford Bistro. It's back, now simply called The Milford, under new local ownership.

The new version leans into comfort food done right: fresh-baked bagels, house-made desserts, classic dishes that feel genuinely homemade. It's more of a daytime and early evening spot, open Wednesday through Sunday, and well worth a stop if you're heading east toward Waupoos or exploring that part of the County.

10 · Picton

The Royal Hotel

A County landmark that deserves its place on any dining list. The Royal Hotel has been an anchor on Picton's main street for years, and its dining room continues to deliver a reliably excellent experience in a setting that feels like it genuinely belongs here. Classic, comfortable, and consistently good.

The Locals' List

More Restaurants in Prince Edward County Worth Discovering

My sphere of influence in the County never disappoints, this section comes directly from the recommendations of neighbours, friends, and fellow locals who know these roads and tables as well as I do.

11 · Prince Edward County

Gather at Wander

One of PEC's boutique resort experiences, Wander offers more than just a place to stay. Gather, its on-site restaurant, brings locally sourced seasonal cooking to a setting that's quietly exceptional, the kind of dinner that's easy to linger over. Worth knowing about if you're spending a few days exploring the County rather than just passing through.

12 · Prince Edward County  ·  Fri,Sun only

Onesta

Open Friday through Sunday only, Onesta takes the name seriously, Italian cooking done honestly, with care and quality ingredients. The limited schedule is a signal: this is a kitchen that values doing a few things exceptionally well. If you're in the County on a weekend, get a reservation.

13 · Waupoos

Stella's Eatery

Out on the east end, Stella's Eatery brings a genuine farm-fresh sensibility to one of the County's most scenic corners. Simple, seasonal, and rooted in where it sits, the kind of place that doesn't need to advertise because the people who find it keep coming back.

14 · Prince Edward County

Quaich & Banter

Named for the traditional Scottish two-handled sharing cup, Quaich & Banter brings something genuinely different to PEC's dining scene: a proper Scottish pub with a serious whisky selection and a spirit of warmth that the name promises and delivers. If you want a night that feels more like a gathering than a dinner service, this is it.

15 · Prince Edward County

The Beau Bistro

Formerly known as Seven Numbers, The Beau Bistro has settled into its new identity with a bistro format that suits the County's rhythm, thoughtful food in a comfortable room, without the formality of the County's top fine dining spots. A welcome addition to a dining scene that keeps getting more interesting.

16 · Bloomfield

Under the Vine

A Greek-Mediterranean kitchen in the heart of Bloomfield, Under the Vine brings a different corner of the Mediterranean to PEC. The cuisine is a natural fit, fresh ingredients, bold flavours, wine-friendly food. If you're in Bloomfield for an evening, this and Flame + Smith give you two of the best reasons in Ontario to visit a village of its size.

17 · Prince Edward County

Sujeo

Six tables. No reservations. One of the most interesting dining rooms in the County. Sujeo is PEC's intimate Korean dining experience, and if you can get a seat, take it. The name means "cutlery" in Korean, a quiet signal that this is a kitchen focused on the fundamentals. The small size isn't a limitation; it's the whole point.

18 · Consecon

Charlie

Mentioned by Condé Nast and drawing attention well beyond the County's borders, Charlie in Consecon has earned a reputation that punches above the size of the village it calls home. This is the kind of restaurant that makes food writers drive two hours from Toronto without complaining about the trip.

Walk-ins only, no reservations accepted

19 · Wellington

La Condesa

Named after one of Mexico City's great dining neighbourhoods, La Condesa brings Mexican cooking to Wellington's village strip. Walk-in friendly and casual in spirit, with a kitchen that takes the food seriously. A genuinely welcome addition to a County dining scene that's expanding in the best possible directions.

20 · Bloomfield

Bloomfield Public House

A proper neighbourhood pub in the heart of Bloomfield. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 4pm, exactly what it sounds like, and exactly what any good village needs. A good room, good drinks, and the kind of evening that doesn't require an occasion.

Hours: Tue,Sat, 4,9pm

21 · Prince Edward County

Hartley's Tavern

Three nights a week. Three hours a night. A small number of seats. Hartley's Tavern keeps intentionally short hours, Thursday through Saturday, 5 to 8pm, and that's not an accident. This is an intimate, carefully paced dining experience with the feel of a place that knows exactly what it wants to be. Book ahead. Don't be late.

Hours: Thu,Sat, 5,8pm  |  Reservations: Recommended

The Bigger Picture

What This Says About Prince Edward County

I've been living in the County for most of my life. I've watched it change in ways that are genuinely remarkable.

What's happening with the dining scene here isn't a coincidence. It's the result of a place that people, talented, ambitious, creative people, are actively choosing to plant their roots in. Chef Grant van Gameren moved his family here from Toronto. The team behind Bantam committed to this community long before it was easy. The new owners of The Milford took over a beloved local spot because they believed in it.

That energy shows up on every plate.

And for anyone considering a move to Prince Edward County, or already thinking about it, this is part of what you're actually buying into. It's not just the land, the water, the wineries, or the quiet roads. It's a community that has built something genuinely special, and a lifestyle that's harder to find than most people realize.

If you'd like to talk about what life and real estate in Prince Edward County actually look like right now, I'm always happy to have that conversation. You can also explore my community guides to get a feel for each ward and what makes them unique.
